The game is Combolands, plural, and its full Steam title is Combolands: Roguelike Citybuilder. Both "comboland" and the spaced "combo lands" are common enough misspellings that Google tracks them as separate searches, and Google Trends lists "comboland" as a breakout query alongside the correct spelling. They all lead to the same game — Steam app 4075620 by Crux Games.

It is the game people mean by that. Polygon's preview headline was "Cities: Skylines meets Balatro", and Google Trends lists Balatro as a breakout related topic for Combolands. The comparison is about structure — cards that are buildings, a board that is your deck, and multiplier chains that snowball — not about a shared studio or publisher.

Two more, Rogues and Arcane, are secret guilds that have to be unlocked and cannot be chosen at the start of a run.

Rogues comes from the Spymaster's council request: collect 75 gold during a single milestone, then use the Spymaster vote it pays out. Arcane is a chain — find the Jewellery Box heirloom, fill it with 8 gems, sell it for the Lost Crown, then sell the Lost Crown for a Wizard vote.

Ten, from Villager up to Regent. Steam's public achievement stats show how far players actually get: 53.9% of owners have beaten Villager and 5.4% have beaten Regent, with the biggest single drop-off between Villager and Yeoman.

No. Combolands is Windows-only on Steam. There is no Android build, no iOS build, no App Store listing and no mobile port announced. The Steam page lists Windows alone — not even macOS or Linux — and the developers' 2026-08-28 roadmap post names only localisation and Steam Deck verification as what comes next. Anything advertising a Combolands mobile download is not the real game.

No. It is a Steam release only as of 2026-08-30, with no console version announced. A player asked about a macOS release and a GeForce Now opt-in in the Steam discussions and the developers have not answered.

It runs, but it is not Steam Deck Verified. Players report it is playable — one has 12 runs on Deck — with the caveat that the image has to be stretched and text goes blurry, particularly the reroll, destruction and dismiss counters and the councillor quest text. The developers have committed to Deck verification as their second priority after localisation, but they do not own a Deck and cannot buy one where they live, so there is no timeline.

There was one, and it is gone. A free demo ran from the 2026-04-13 announcement through Steam Next Fest, reaching version 9, but it was pulled around the 2026-08-24 launch. Players in the Steam discussions have asked for it back; the developers have not commented as of 2026-08-30. The demo was also substantially different from the release build — it used the Martial guild in place of Maritime.

Not officially. The Steam page lists English only, and the developers have named localisation as their number one post-launch priority, explaining that the game builds its text procedurally, which makes translation hard. In the meantime, players have published unofficial Simplified Chinese and Russian translation patches on the game's Steam Community guides hub — those are community work, not endorsed by Crux Games, and they can break when the game updates.

Crux Games points players to their Discord at discord.gg/JRXpcV3gwq, which they have named as the best place to stay up to date since the game's announcement. There is also an r/combolands subreddit created in the launch week. The Steam discussion board is where the developers actually answer, and where the launch-week guild debate happened.

Crux Games pitches it as a "number-go-up" rush in satisfying 30 minute bursts. Endless mode is the exception: players have pushed runs deep into the Megalopolis milestones, one reaching Milestone L before the score requirements broke at Megalopolis XXXV.

Steam users say yes at a rate that is hard to argue with: 630 of 646 reviews were positive on 2026-08-30, which is 97.5% and a rating of Overwhelmingly Positive. The launch-week complaints are English-only text, no demo, thin in-game explanation of trigger wording, and Steam Deck text size.
